LITTLETON TOWN OVERVIEW

Founded in 1715, Littleton for many decades was a farming and agricultural community abundant with hay crops and fruits and vegetables. Retaining its strong link with the past, the town still retains some of the finest apple orchards in the state, and it is common to see horses grazing in the rich pasturelands. Many of the town's historic buildings still remain, along with acres of protected conservation land and lakes, all helping to maintain the rural image so loved by its inhabitants.

Vocational students attend Nashoba Regional Technical High School in bordering Westford.

MEDICAL FACILITIES
Three neighboring community hospitals and four medical clinics servicing the community along with a scattering of in-town doctors and dentists.

SHOPPING
Basic shopping in the center of town, plus easily accessible malls in several nearby towns.

TRANSPORTATION
MBTA commuter rail service to Boston, frequent bus service to Worcester and Boston from Littleton Common.

PLACES OF WORSHIP
One Catholic, one Unitarian, one Church of Christ, one Congregational, and one Baptist.

DISTANCES
Littleton is situated 30 miles NW of Boston, and 15 miles SW of Lowell. Driving time to Boston is 45 minutes approximately. The town's ideal geographical location makes it excellent for industry. Route 2 connects the town conveniently to Boston and Route 495 passes through the town making access to other points within easy reach.

RECREATIONAL FACILITIES
Along with natural outdoor recreation areas for hiking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing, Littleton has several tennis courts, four baseball diamonds, and supervised swimming and instruction at the public beach. The Town also has a number of social and service organizations.

UTILITIES AND SERVICES
Local municipal power plant provides electricity; gas supplied by Boston Gas; both town and well water; full time police department; two man paid and 25 man volunteer fire department; public library; a weekly local newspaper; senior citizens drop-in center and many civic and social organizations
